History
The Great Britain established colonies and protectors in the area of current Malaysia; they were occupied by Japan from 1942 to 1945. Malaysia's independence story is fascinating because unlike other countries Malaysia's independence did not involve wars, it just involved a peaceful talk with the British. Malaysian independence was realized by three people with different culture and religion. On 31st of August 1957 Malaysia grained it's independence. Malaysia's fist prime minister proudly declared Malaysia's independence by shouting "Merdeka" (which means independence in Malaysia and Indonesia) seven times in the Merdeka Stadium.
Modern Malaysia
Today Malaysia has become a mixed cultural country. Malaysian cities, particularly Kuala Lumpur became a magnet for immigration from countries such as Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand and the Philippines. Malaysia has an extensive history. Colonial town Melaka are worth of visiting. Malaysia was on the main path between Europe and far Asia and was important not only for Portugal, British and Dutch, but also for Chinese and Arabians who invented Islam. Now, Islam is the most common religion in Malaysia. The modern capital Kuala Lumpur is famous for the seventh tallest building in the world, Petronas Twin Towers.
